Who we are
ENVIRONMENTThe plant and the extraction processes were developed to comply with the highest standards of sustainable development. Our state-of-the-art plant integrates high-technology and energy wise solutions.
Renewable energy All the energy used by the plant is coming from renewable sources. Biogas is the main source of energy. The rest is coming from hydroelectricity produced by Hydro-Québec.. Recycled by-products The process is designed to obtain the maximum extract from various biomasses. The dry residues are composted for further use. The liquid residues are sent to a water treatment unit where they become a valuable carbon source needed for the treatment process. Biomasses valorization Our biomasses come from local growers reducing the greenhouse gases emission for transportation and handling. An important percentage of the biomass is certified organic, therefore produced under environmental norms. A fair percentage is coming from rejected fruits and vegetables based on their appearance or size. Some other biomasses are coming from selective harvest or ecologically grown crops in forests. These actions reduce the land needed for fruit & vegetable production and are noticeable contributors to the reduction of Greenhouse gases.
