Who we are
INNOVATION
Nutra Canada is a research & technology based company emerging from an R & D program in collaboration with The National Research Council of Canada and Laval University’s researchers (2002-2008). The program provided the support to develop an efficient extraction process for northern species and to produce high-quality extracts to meet the needs of the natural products, food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries.
Nutra Canada ongoing R&D programs
Nutra Canada is involved in research and development for new products and technologies linked to the nutraceutical industries. Here is a brief list of our ongoing projects.
- Nutra Canada researchers are driving an important R&D program on optimization of the key elements of the extraction and drying processes. This program is design to maximise the extraction, to reduce the quantity of solvent needed, to minimise the energy consumption and environmental impacts. The project is a partnership with Oleotek, Laval University, MAPAQ and CNRC.
- An R&D project is in the process of developing cosmetic and nutraceutical applications from ligneous or non-ligneous forest species. The project wants to establish the medicinal and cosmetic properties of various forest species. The project is realised with Forvalca and asian partners.
- Nutra Canada is a partner in a major Laval University’ project (Dr Angers/Desjardins) on the valorisation of vegetable industry by-products. The project is a collaborative effort of MAPAQ and various private partners (Margiric, Bonduelle, Vert Nature and Onipro).
- Nutra Canada is a partner is a second project from Laval University (Dr Angers/Desjardins) on valuation of the residues from the fruit industry. The project is a collaborative effort of MAPAQ and various private partners (Fruit d’Or, Fraises de l’Ile d’Orléans inc., Industries Lassonde and Atrium-Innovation).
- Nutra Canada is a partner in a research program from Laval University (Dr Saucier/Desjardins) on the use of fruits & vegetable extracts to prevent the bacteria growth on red meat. The project is a collaborative effort of MAPAQ and various private partners (Fruit d’Or and Onipro).
- Nutra Canada supports an INAF clinical study on fruits & vegetable extracts. The evaluates five (5) extracts and evaluate their impacts on four (4) health targets : obesity, cardiovascular diseases, inflammatory diseases and diabetes..
Nutra Canada continuously supports the knowledge development on extracts.
